After 480 million kilometers traveled in 7 months of travel in space, Perseverance has arrived on Mars. The automatic landing maneuver lasted a few minutes and was extremely difficult. The spacecraft crossed the Martian atmosphere only to be slowed down by a giant parachute. A few meters above the ground, he then activated the rear rockets to stabilize and further decrease speed. The rover was thus deposited on the surface of Mars thanks to a system of ropes. NASA’s Mars 2020 mission aims to scour the Red Planet. Perseverance will travel a 3.8 billion-year-old ancient river delta, 45 km wide to look for traces of past life such as fossilized bacteria or microbes. The rover is 3 meters long and equipped with 6 wheels and is equipped with 7 different scientific instruments. Ingenuity, on the other hand, the experimental mini-helicopter, will attempt to gain altitude for the first time on another planet. In three years Perseverance is expected to recover some rock samples and store them in tubes. A future mission conducted in tandem by the US and the EU will have the task of recovering them and bringing them to earth
