Opta has published a Ligue 1 ranking based on the number of goals each team could have scored.
On Friday, the performance analyzer Opta unveiled an alternative classification for Ligue 1. Its operation is based on the number of goals that each club should have scored according to the statistics.
To establish this ranking, Opta therefore took into account the famous “expected goals”, or the number of goals that a team could have scored during a match.
According to Opta, OM is one of the teams that underperforms the most. The Marseille club is sixth in Ligue 1, but second in the ranking. The same goes for OL, currently fifteenth instead of twelfth.
Conversely, Lens rather outperformed, just like Monaco and Brest. A ranking which allows Ligue 1 to be analyzed other than through the prism of the result, even if, to the great dismay of some, it is only statistical.
