The gesture, immortalized in a video that circulated on social networks, was hailed on Tuesday by the spokesperson for the Independent Union of Police Commissioners, Matthieu Valet.

“Thank you to the passers-by who came to help the municipal police of Marseille. As a police car returned with officers trapped inside, these witnesses did not hesitate to help them. Well done to them, ”wrote the union representative on Twitter, commenting on the video.

An accident without injuries

In the clip, a group of several young people can be seen pushing an overturned municipal police car on its right side in seconds, before three police officers get out of the vehicle, visibly shaken. The police were taken care of in the emergency room, but only suffered bruises, according to La Provence, which specifies that no tram passenger was injured.

According to France 3 Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, the police officers had been called in for reinforcement on an intervention and were driving at high speed in the streets of Marseille, before hitting a tram on an intersection, causing the accident. .

“It’s a great action, it shows that the police are not hated as some politicians or some people want to believe, and there we have a demonstration of what civility should be”, reacted Matthieu Valet , quoted by France 3.
