“In the letter, for the peace of mind of the other investigated, there is no mention of any fact that does not arise from the investigation folder,” he said.

The lawyer of former Vice Chancellor Carolina Ache, Jorge Díaz, assured this Thursday at a press conference that the suspension of statements in the case of drug trafficker Sebastián Marset “harms everyone.”

As explained by the prosecutor Antonio Machado – and communicated through the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation – a document was presented with facts to which those investigated will access and intends to analyze it before all the statements.

“For the peace of mind of the other investigated parties, the letter does not mention any fact that does not appear in the investigation file, nor does it mention any evidence that is no longer incorporated,” Díaz said.

“Here there is no surprise. What is there is ordered chronologically with a technical and professional technology, the facts, in order to be able to transmit to the prosecutor the questions that we understand must be asked, that is the content of the letter,” he added.

In turn, the lawyer maintained that as a result of some things that arise from the investigation folder, they proposed the collection of one or two pieces of evidence that they understand “can help” to understand some things that arise from the folder and “that are not in principle quite clear”.

“It was not our intention that it be suspended. This suspension harms us and I understand that it harms everyone, because this is an investigation that has been going on for almost a year now,” he stressed.

The Prosecutor’s Office had informed this Monday the days in which it summoned the public authorities involved in the issue: the Minister of the Interior, Luis Alberto Heber, the Undersecretary Guillermo Maciel, the Chancellor Francisco Bustillo and the former Vice Chancellor Carolina Ache.

In total there were 14 people summoned, 13 of them were going to be investigated and one as a witness. Maciel, Heber, Ache and Bustillo would declare as investigated.
