jpnn.com – Marshel Widianto immediately changed his attitude after resigning as a prospective candidate for deputy mayor of South Tangerang (Tangsel) in the 2024 regional head elections (Pilkada).

Marshel’s decision to resign was made in South Tangerang, Wednesday (28/8/2024), after the Gerindra Party withdrew its nomination of Ahmad Riza Patria as a prospective mayoral candidate.

Previously, the prospective candidate pair Ahmad Riza Patria-Marshel Widianto had firmly decided to advance in the South Tangerang Pilkada with the support of a number of political parties.

Well, after Gerindra failed to support him, Marshel’s political stance changed by supporting a new pair, namely Benyamin Davnie-Pilar Saga Ichsan who were supported by Gerindra as candidates for Mayor and Deputy Mayor of South Tangerang.

“Today, I represent the Gerindra Party and also Mr. Ahmad Riza Patria and I myself would like to express my full support for the Benyamin-Pilar pair for the South Tangerang Pilkada,” said Marshel in Tangerang yesterday.

He said that support for the Benyamin-Pilar pair did not mean the end of his and Riza Patria’s struggle.

“This does not mean that my trip with Mr. Riza was in vain,” said Marshel.

Marshel said that so far he and Riza have received many aspirations from the community, and this will be entrusted to the Benyamin-Pilar pair who will become mayor and deputy mayor of South Tangerang.

Marshel Widianto changed his stance after canceling his candidacy to accompany Ahmad Riza Patria in the South Tangerang Pilkada because the Gerindra Party withdrew its support.
