New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki set up its first plant in 1983 in Gurugram, Haryana. In this, Maruti 800 car was produced as the first model and that car took the number one position in personal use.

Since then Maruti Suzuki has been manufacturing cars in 16 models. Maruti’s cars are manufactured at 2 plants namely Gurugram and Manesar. These plants have an annual production capacity of 15 lakh cars.

Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Maruti Suzuki said, “With 2022, 40 years of Suzuki’s partnership with the people of India, the company’s total car production has crossed the 2.5 crore milestone. At this moment of achievement, I would like to thank our employees, distributors, vendors, etc.

It is because of their support that Maruti Suzuki has made it possible for millions of people to realize their dream of owning a car.”

Maruti Suzuki is number one in the car sales market in India. Hyundai and Tata Motors are at the second and third positions respectively.

Apart from this, companies like Mahindra, Kia and Toyota are also increasing their car sales and capturing significant market share.
