Marvel has unveiled the trailer for “The Green Giant” and it’s hmm … a little weird

by time news

We knew it was coming, and yet – we admit – we were surprised. Last night (17.5) the first trailer for the series about Bruce Banner’s cousin, “The Green Giant” (in English it’s She Hulk, so we came out cheap), was released as part of the fourth phase of MCU and the collaboration with Disney +. So far the above collaboration has yielded us several series on familiar characters (“Vinda-Vision”, “Loki”, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”) and several attempts to innovate (the illustrated “What if…?” And “Moon Night”) Psychological-Egyptian), but now they seem to be trying to do both at the same time, and we are not entirely sure what we think of it.

The trailer features Tatiana Maslani (“Orphan Black”) as Jennifer Walters, a lawyer (for superheroes), a career woman, a sought-after bachelorette and also, at times, a huge, green monster with super powers. Although the trailer does not reveal the source of her superpowers, he certainly takes care to emphasize her family connection to the Green Giant (Mark Raffaello) and the fact that Raffaello will appear in the series, as well as Tim Roth’s return as Emile Blonsky, or the villain Abomination he played in -2008.

Another thing that is clear from the trailer, and also from the series’ full name (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), is that this is going to be a comedy series that will deal with Walters / Green’s attempt to sway between the sides of her career, face public attention and try her luck on green dates. And yes, there’s a short whip where she’s seen picking up her date like he was a toddler, which’s weird.

The giant’s character design is more reminiscent of Bruce Banner’s current version – that is, with the Hulk powers but the intelligence of the woman behind it – but in practice also a bit stressfully similar to Fiona from “Shrek”. The series will go on the Disney Plus streaming service on Aug. 17 and consist of nine green episodes, leaving only to wonder how much the series will go on the comic-and-almost-parody tone of the original comic (including a fourth wall break, similar to Deadpool), or stay in more conservative areas. In addition, according to reports at Marvel, the giant is expected to appear later in Marvel movies as well. May we all have success.
