The industrial and financial group Corporación Masaveu, the main manufacturing conglomerate of Asturian capital, continues to increase its participation in the renewable energy business and its international projection.

The family-owned organization has diversified its investments in the renewable energy sector through three photovoltaic solar parks in Portugal that add up to a total of 43.7 megawatts of installed power, which will soon be expanded to reach 48, 8 megawatts.

In turn, Corporación Masaveu has acquired majority stakes in the companies that own the Alcaide Solar Power Plant and the Barrocal Solar Power Plant, both located in Évora (Portugal), and intends to develop another two plants of 25 megawatts each installed capacity.

All this is added to other energy implementations in the field of renewable sources that the group already had in Portugal.

In Spain and Portugal, up to now it had an installed capacity of 400 megawatts between wind farms and photovoltaic installations.

In the neighboring country, it is also the holder of one of the largest shareholdings (7%) in the energy multinational EDP through the holding company Oppidum Capital, in which it is the majority shareholder (it owns 56%) in alliance with Unicaja Bank.

The group, chaired by Fernando Masaveu Herrero from Oviedo, participates in turn with other partners in different companies in the wind and photovoltaic sector in the United States, whose facilities together add up to a total installed power of 376.9 megawatts. The portfolio of assets in the US is made up of nineteen solar plants, operating in the states of North Carolina and Virginia, and two wind farms, located in Cambria (Pennsylvania) and Rattlesnake (Texas).

self-consumption

The group’s commitment to renewable energy also extends to self-consumption. Its cement factory in La Robla (León) has been equipped with one of the largest rooftop solar installations in Spain, with more than 3 megawatts peak and a second phase on ground, now under development, of more than 3.5 megawatts peak .

Similar solutions have been adopted at the facilities of the Asturias Medical Center, in Oviedo, and in the Corporation’s wine division, with the installation of solar panels at the Murua (Álava), Fillaboa (Pontevedra) and Pagos de Araiz (Navarra) wineries ).

In this last winery, the group is promoting the upcoming construction of a commercial photovoltaic park connected to the grid that already has a declaration of public utility and previous administrative authorizations. The project, with a planned investment of 17.1 million, will have an installed capacity of 49.9 megawatts.
