Sony and Honda plan to jointly develop electric vehicles.

Sony and Honda are planning to jointly develop electric vehicles. The first electric vehicle to be developed jointly by the two companies is set to be released in 2025.
The two companies plan to integrate automobile manufacturing, technology and sales capabilities and Sony’s imaging, communications and entertainment features. The joint venture between the two companies will be manufactured at the Honda plant.
Sony and Honda were launched just as Japan was beginning to recover after World War II. The Honda company was started by an engineer named Sochiro Honda. With the help of his father’s bicycle repair shop, he grew into the global company Honda.
Sony was started by Akio Morita. He is also very interested in Product Development. When Sony developed the audio player on its Walkman portable in the 1970s, only a few engineers thought the idea might not be right. However, Morita thought people should listen to music while traveling.
“Sony and Honda are historically and culturally significant companies. However, their technical capabilities are quite different. I hope this partnership will help unleash the potential of both companies to create better transportation in the future,” said Honda senior executive Toshiro Mibe.
