Subheading: Keoni Hubbard’s tragic death leaves community mourning

LEXINGTON, Mass. — Keoni Hubbard, a 12-year-old Massachusetts boy, tragically lost his life in a boating accident on Manning Lake in Gilmanton, New Hampshire on Friday. The Hubbard family, devastated by the loss, fondly remembers Keoni as a “selfless child” who constantly sought the happiness of others.

Keoni, a Lexington student, had been attending a summer camp at the Boy Scout camp in New Hampshire when the incident occurred. The young boy was among three individuals who lost their lives in separate accidents in New Hampshire waters on that fateful Friday, according to state police reports.

In a heartfelt statement released on Sunday, the Hubbard family expressed their profound grief: “Our hearts are forever broken by the loss of our Keoni. Beloved by his family and friends, Keoni’s spirit and empathy for others resonated with all who love and admire him. Keoni was simply the best – a selfless child who truly found joy in the happiness of others. Our family appreciates the support of the community and respectfully asks that you respect our privacy as we mourn the unimaginable loss of our beloved Keoni.”

Lexington Public Schools Superintendent Julie Hackett sent a letter to the school community, expressing her condolences and informing them of the tragic incident. Several students who were present at the scene of the accident received counseling services provided by Lexington Human Services. Hackett emphasized the importance of coming together as a community during such difficult times.

The Daniel Webster Council of the Boy Scouts of America issued their condolences as well, stating, “We are heartbroken to confirm the death of a Scout yesterday following a tragic accident on Manning Lake… Our deepest condolences to the Scout’s family… during this difficult time.”

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the boating accident on Manning Lake. Meanwhile, Marine Patrol also recovered the body of Shawn Barton, 40, from the Piscataquog River in Manchester, and a possible drowning case involving Amy Posocco, 41, in Madison highlights the tragic series of events that unfolded that day.
