Epilogue in Canada, after the massacre on Sunday in which ten people were killed. Myles Sanderson, the latest suspect in the deadly stabbing attacks, was arrested by police on Wednesday.

“Myles Sanderson was located and taken into custody near Rosthern, Saskatchewan at approximately 3:30 p.m. (21:30 GMT). There is no longer a public safety risk associated with this investigation,” provincial police said in a social media post.

Known to the police and the justice system for acts of violence, Myles Sanderson, 32, was already wanted since last May for not having respected his judicial control. The police had been on his trail since Sunday, suspecting him of being responsible, along with his brother, Damien, for one of the deadliest attacks in recent years in the country.

Ten victims still hospitalized

The victims had been stabbed at 13 different locations in the province of Saskatchewan, in the mid-west of the country. Ten people were killed and at least 18 others were injured in the indigenous community of James Smith Cree Nation and the nearby town of Weldon. They are men and women between the ages of 23 and 78. Among the injured, there is a “young teenager” and 17 adults, according to the federal police. According to the security forces, some victims were targeted while others were hit randomly.

Two brothers from the region, Damien and Myles Sanderson, are suspected of having spread terror on Sunday in this village and the one next door, before fleeing. Since then, a vast manhunt was organized by the authorities. On Monday, the body of Damien Sanderson, 31, was discovered with stab wounds near one of the localities where the murders took place. The circumstances of his death remain to be clarified, but he could have been killed by his own brother.

Ten patients were still hospitalized and three remained in critical condition, according to health authorities.
