GOMA – A few days after the carnage in the capital of the province of North Kivu, which claimed the lives of dozens of people, two suspects in the ranks of the Armed Forces of the DRC were brought before the courts.

The commander of the Republican Guard brigade and that of the 19th regiment in North Kivu will be interviewed. The decision was taken by the central government delegation that came to see the situation on the ground and pursue investigations. For Peter Kazadi, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Interior, who heads this delegation, several military and police authorities including the Governor of the province, the Mayor of the city, the two commanders placed in detention must be heard during the first surveys.

“The commission informs national opinion that the commander of the Republican Guard brigade and the commander of the 19th regiment have been arrested and placed at the disposal of military justice. A flagrance trial will be organized shortly, ”promised Mr. Kazadi.

A decision hailed by many residents of the city of Goma who demand that investigations continue so that the other alleged perpetrators are arrested.

It should be noted that during the demonstration organized by the Uwezo wa neno (Wazalendo) sect, on Wednesday August 30, 2023, to demand the departure of MONUSCO from Congolese soil, 43 civilians were killed. There were also many injuries and arrests.
