ROVERETO. The preliminary hearing judge of the Rovereto Court Mariateresa Dieni has ordered the Chukwuka Nweke sent to trialthe 38-year-old of Nigerian origin held responsible for the murder of Iris Setti, which occurred on August 5, 2023 in parco Nikolajewka.
The request for indictment was filed by the Rovereto Prosecutor’s Office on June 19, at the end of the investigations. The accusation is of voluntary homicide with the aggravating circumstance of robbery and sexual violence with the aggravating circumstance of serious violence.
According to investigators’ reconstructions, the 38-year-old allegedly attacked Iris Setti on the evening of August 5, on the edge of the park, repeatedly hitting her, raping her and stealing a gold ring from her.
The woman later died during the night at the hospital in Trento due to the serious injuries she suffered.
Nweke, who is currently in prison in Trento, was arrested shortly after the events by the Carabinieri. He will also have to answer for a robbery against a third person that occurred before the killing of the 61-year-old woman from Trento.
The first hearing before the Court of Assizes of Trento has been set for next December.
