Massive defeat for Russia in the UN Human Rights Council

by time news

The United Nations Human Rights Commission is set to set up a commission of inquiry into alleged violations of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The UN Commission on Human Rights has strongly supported the Ukrainian resolution condemning Russia’s invasion.

The whole of Russia was isolated in the vote on this resolution. Russia and Eritrea voted in favor of the resolution, with 13 abstentions and 17 abstentions.

China, Cuba and Venezuela usually support Russia. But this time they abstained.

However, some countries that voted in favor of the resolution presented by Ukraine, with the support of Britain and the United States, expressed dissatisfaction that some of the words mentioned in the resolution were unilateral.

The UN Commission on Human Rights said in a Twitter post that “the Human Rights Commission has decided to set up an independent international commission of inquiry into Russia’s violations of Ukraine.”
