Doha: Big drug hunt in Qatar. A large quantity of intoxicating pills were seized while trying to smuggle them into Qatar. Officials of the Postal Consignments Section under Air Cargo and Private Airports Customs in Qatar seized 81,568 drug pills.
These have a total weight of 13.25 kg. Narcotic pills were smuggled in by hiding inside the lighting equipment. The seized drug and the accused have been handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Unit of the Ministry of Home Affairs for further legal action.
In a similar manner, the customs authorities foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotic pills into Qatar from abroad the other day. The drugs were hidden in a parcel of children’s toys brought into the country. The narcotic pills were seized by the Postal Consignments Section under Qatar Air Cargo and Private Airports Customs.
