Bangkok: An oil spill has posed a serious threat to Thailand’s fisheries. The leak was in the pipeline of Star Petroleum Refining Public Company Limited in the Gulf of Thailand. As the oil spill accelerated, the seabed darkened. East Thailand coast declared a disaster zone

It is estimated that about 1.5 million liters of oil spilled into the sea. The government advised the fishermen to leave the area. Authorities are trying to stop the leak before it reaches the shore. Officials said the leak did not harm the fishery. The SPRC also said the situation was under control. The company said about 20,000 liters of oil was left at sea and would be removed immediately.
