According to several readers on Tuesday afternoon, there is a power outage in the city of Bern. “There has been no power in the city of Bern for about 20 minutes. Nothing works in the old town and in the Kirchenfeld neighborhood. Various shops are closed or can only accept cash payments.”

Several neighborhoods affected

According to EWB spokesperson Sabine Krähenbühl, it is a local disruption. “The neighborhoods Kirchenfeld and Mattenhof are affected. The disturbance service is on site and is working hard to resolve the problem.”

According to Alert Swiss, the disruption is in Bern, Wankdorf, Breitenrain, Kirchenfeld, and Ostring. The duration of the repair work is currently unknown. “The power has gone out in the affected area. There is no danger. The population does not need to take any special measures,” says Alert Swiss.

“Incredible, power outage in Bern!”

X user Sören Meier writes shortly after noon: “Incredible, power outage in Bern!” Users respond under his post that there is currently no power in the Kirchenfeld neighborhood and also in Breitenrain.

Another news scout speaks of a larger power outage in the Breitenrain neighborhood and in Ostermundigen. User Option Retiree wonders why there is no information about the power outage.

Just before 1:30 PM, EWB reported on X that the power outage has almost been completely resolved: “All customers have been restored since 1:10 PM, with the exception of some buildings around Ka-We-De.”
