hundreds of thousands of peoplehave taken to the streets of various French cities this Saturday, starting with the capital, Paris, in anew protest against pension reformthat the Government plans where the organizers, with the unions at the head, hope to break attendance records.

The Paris march began at 1:00 p.m. and has so far proceeded relatively normally, although some participants have thrown some objects at the police force, according to reports. Le Figaro.

The most notable event has taken place in the Orly International Airport, south of Paris, where a surprise stoppage has forced the cancellation of half the flights.

Estimates from the French media put more than 321,000 participants up to 2:30 p.m., compared to the 262,000 registered last Tuesday in the same towns where the marches are taking place, such as Nantes or Lyon.

He French government continues to propose gradually raising the retirement age to 64 years—two above the current 62– and increase the contribution period required to access the maximum pension. The text also removes the specific privileges of certain groups.

However, the Government is not guaranteed most to push through a reform, which has received criticism from both sides of the political spectrum. The former presidential candidate of La Francia Insoumisa (LFI), Jean-Luc Mlenchon, has called on the country’s president, Emmanuel Macron, to be reasonable and not authoritarian.
