New Delhi: A major security breach occurred during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Punjab. The Prime Minister’s convoy was stuck on the flyover for about 20 minutes. Following this, the conference program in Ferozepur where he was to attend was canceled. The Prime Minister returned after skipping the trip.

The Prime Minister’s convoy was reportedly stranded on a flyover after protesters blocked the road while offering wreaths at the National Memorial in Hussainiwala.

It was initially planned to fly to Hussainiwala by helicopter but due to inclement weather, the journey was made by road. Protesters blocked the road as the prime minister’s convoy reached 30 km from Hussainiwala. This is where he and his team got trapped.

The journey started after talking to the Punjab police before making the journey by road and making sure there were no problems. Meanwhile, protesters blocked the road for hours. Following this, the NSG team returned to Bathinda Airport with the Prime Minister. The Union Home Ministry has alleged that the Congress government in Punjab has acted irresponsibly.

It is also the responsibility of the State Police to provide adequate security during the state visit during which the Prime Minister normally visits. The Center said that although travel by air was prescribed in the state, there was no preparation to be adopted if it became a road under any circumstances.
