Master Sergeant David Yehuda Yitzchak (23), a fighter in permanent service in the Eggos unit and a resident of Beit El, was killed last night (Tuesday) during an encounter with terrorists in the city of Jenin. He was treated in the field and taken by helicopter to the Emek Hospital in Afula, where he was pronounced dead. The circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
The encounter occurred at the end of the second day of the “Home and Garden” operation, when the IDF began its withdrawal from the refugee camp in Jenin, after the objectives of the operation were achieved and hundreds of weapons were seized and detainees were questioned and captured.
President Yitzhak Herzog paid tribute to the fallen fighter: “We are pained by the fall of the Nut Patrol fighter Maj. David Yehuda Yitzchak, late, during the “Beit and Garden” operation to eradicate the terrorist infrastructure in the Jenin refugee camp. On behalf of the people of Israel, I send my condolences to his family, his loved ones and all the residents of Beit El. We will continue to fight terrorism with determination and come to terms with those who seek our harm.’
Isaac’s funeral is expected to be held today. The family stated that they are not interested in media coverage and arrival at the funeral.
