The Gipuzkoan fought until the end but could not beat two of the favorites
The final of ‘Masterchef’ is just around the corner and yesterday Basque cuisine lost one of its representatives. Jokin from Gipuzkoa was eliminated after losing two consecutive duels. The goodbye was dramatic but he knew something better when Jordi Cruz offered him a job in one of his restaurants. Thus, Bilbao-born Adrián becomes the only Basque representative in ‘Masterchef’.
The eleventh gala of the cooking reality show started strongly. It was time for a family visit and that is always a boost for them. The first test was cooking for the Repsol Guide judges, although the program never showed them on screen. David and his tripe won the prize of putting the recipe in the winner’s book and achieving immunity.
What seemed like a drama-free night in the kitchens of ‘Masterchef’ soon went awry in the group test. The blue team was a mess. Vero was once again great captaincy and failed in the service. Those of the red team did not shine too much either but they took the cat to the water despite an oversight by Adrián. Thus, the duels that would determine the expulsion would be those of María Lo, Vero, Claudia and Jokin.
Vero spent her immunity pin and expulsion was a matter of three. Jokin made some gyozas and a Basque salad but it was insufficient to defeat Claudia. He played a card against one of her favorites, María Lo. The last dish consisted of preparing a Galician-Thai style octopus in 45 minutes. Jokin delivered a plate with a “chewy but good flavor” dough and that cost him his expulsion.
The Gipuzkoan said goodbye between tears: «It is an honor to leave with the work I have done». And Jordi Cruz rewarded his contest with a job offer. «Knowing the sacrifice and concern you have for your family, if your dream is to be a cook and you want to, I swear that if I can help you, you will be a great cook. I wait for you in whichever of my houses you want and I will make sure that you shine and yours are happy ».
