Mateiko has collected five points (5+0) in five games, sharing the first place in the tournament with the Czechs Eduard Šalé and Jakub Štancla, as well as the Slovak Dalibor Dvorski.
In the list of the most productive players, Mateiko is in 23rd place with five points, while Dvorskis is the leader with nine (5+4) points, while the Swede Axel Sandins-Pelika has collected 4+5.
Meanwhile, Latvian junior national team goalkeeper Linards Feldbergs is the third best goalkeeper of the tournament according to the percentage of shots saved – 92.92%. Only Finland’s Peter Rimpinen (94.08%) and Canada’s U-20 goalkeeper Carter George (93.58%) have better statistics.
Feldberg has saved the most shots (210) and has been on the court the longest (306 minutes and 46 seconds) in this world championship after the quarter-final games, surpassing Rimpinen in both figures (299 minutes and 19 seconds, respectively, as well as 159 saved shots).
Latvian striker Bruno Osmanis, who did not play in the last two matches due to an eye injury, takes the 24th place in the list of the best assistants with three assists. American Cole Hutson and Swede Felix Unger-Serum are the leaders in assists, who each have six assists.
On the other hand, Olivers Mūrnieks takes the 17th place in the throws with 54.10% of the duel won, while Dāvids Livšits takes the 23rd place with a 50% victory. The best in shots with 71.62% of the puck won is the Canadian Brayden Jaeger.
Mūrnieks also accumulated a positive efficiency coefficient of +4 in five games, currently taking 24th place in this statistical indicator in the tournament. The best with +9 efficiency so far has been Petr Sikora from the Czech Republic.
In the statistics of the teams, the Latvian national team with 8.62% realized shots has been the sixth best out of ten units, the leader in this indicator being the Czech Republic (18.95%). In the majority, the Latvians with 12.50% realization were the third worst (after Finland – 11.76% and Kazakhstan – 8.33%), while the Swedish U-20 hockey players were the leaders with 36.36%.
In the minority, Latvians have the worst statistics in the tournament – only 50% would pass the minority, the leaders with 94.12% being Finns and Germans. On the other hand, with 44 penalty minutes, the Latvian national team was the fourth most disciplined – only the German and Slovak national teams (34 minutes each) and Sweden (38) earned fewer penalties, while the host Canada was the most undisciplined, accumulating 113 penalty minutes.
In terms of average goals conceded per game (3.13), Latvian juniors are in sixth place in the tournament, while the home team Canadians were the best in this regard (2.17), but in terms of goals scored (10), the Latvians were the worst in the world championship (leaders USA and Czech Republic – 29 each).
On average, 11,872 fans watched the matches of the Latvian hockey players in person, which is the fifth best indicator in the tournament (the Canadians are the leaders with 18,240).
It has already been reported that the Latvian team finished the 2025 World Junior Championship in seventh place.
Latvian juniors started the group tournament with a sensational victory over Canada (3:2 in a shootout), then lost to the USA (1:5), overtimed Germany (4:3) and lost to Finland (0:3). On the other hand, the superiority of the Swedish peers was recognized in the quarter-final with 2:3.
Goalkeeper Feldbergs, forward Mateiko and team captain defender Pēteris Bulāns were recognized as the best for the Latvian national team in this championship.
It has already been announced that the Swedes will meet the Finns in the semi-finals on Saturday, while last year’s champions the Americans will play the Czech hockey players.
The champions will be announced on January 5.
