French international interior Mathias Lessort has signed a two-year contract with Panathinaikos after a convincing Euroleague season under the colors of Partizan Belgrade, the Greek club announced on Tuesday. Lessort (2.06 m, 28 selections) finished best rebounder in the Euroleague (7.1 average catches per game) and second in the evaluation with the Serbian team, which reached the play-offs.
The 27-year-old Martiniquais joins a club that wants to restore its image (six times European champion) under the leadership of a new coach, the Turkish Ergin Ataman, double winner of the Euroleague in 2021 and 2022 with Efes Istanbul .
