The current president (Antonio Álvarez) and a club representative (Matías Oyola) officially announced their candidacies for the presidency of Barcelona SC.
The first to make his candidacy official was Antonio Álvarez, who will lead the list called ““United We Are Stronger”. The current president of the Idol He will be accompanied by people he trusts, such as Jose Luis Nogales (Sports Vice President), Miguel Montalvo (Financial Vice President) and Galo Roggiero Avilés (Administrative Vice President).
In presenting his candidacy, Alvarez said the following: “It has been a very hard road, we have lived through very hard days, it has not been easy at all. We have been there for Barcelona, that is what destiny wanted, that is what God wanted, and I think it was opportune.“.
“We had to make decisions, make arrangements, sacrifice our heritage so that Barcelona, which was on the verge of falling into the abyss, does not fall.“.
Álvarez’s rival in the elections will be Matías Oyola, a leading figure and former captain of Barcelona, who also presented his candidacy for the presidency. Oyola will lead the list “A new model for a great history”.
Matías Oyola took the place of Rafael Verduga, who was unable to run for president because he had been a member of the BSC board of directors for two previous terms. The former footballer will be accompanied by renowned partners such as Munir Massuh, Estuardo Reinoso, Juan Carlos Paladines and José Gabriel Cevallos.
In presenting his candidacy, Oyola mentioned the following: “I accepted this lovely challenge of being able to lead this list because of the love we feel for Barcelona“.
“I experienced it from within, with Munir (Massuh) and Rafael (Verduga), administratively and financially, with the former president (Alfaro Moreno), it was the best time of the 13 years that I have been at the club.”
The elections for the bullfighting team are scheduled for Wednesday, May 8 at the Monumental stadium. The registration of a third candidacy is not ruled out, the same one that would be led by the Ec. Joseph Jorgge Bejarano.
It should be noted that the electoral process in BSC was to take place in 2023, but due to non-compliance with the Sports Law and the Ministry’s refusal to register the winning list (Álvarez), the decision was made to call for new elections.
