On Saturday evening, Jakub Blaszczykowski and Lukasz Piszczek celebrated their farewell from BVB. Also present was Mats Hummels, who left the club in the summer.
Jürgen Klopp, Lucas Barrios, Dédé, Neven Subotić: The list of BVB legends who arrived at Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park on Saturday afternoon is long. The reason for their “comeback”: the farewell game of the two former BVB professionals Jakub “Kuba” Blaszczykowski and Łukasz Piszczek.
Mats Hummels was also there, although he had only moved to Rome a few days ago. The previously clubless central defender had left BVB in the summer.
However, Hummels did not show up at the Dortmund stadium in a car, but on an e-scooter. The 2014 world champion explained to Sky why he decided to use the scooter: “Traffic jam on the A3, how else could it be? Like always on match days.”
Hummels said he wanted to hear Klopp’s speech in the dressing room and warm up a bit.
His appearance with the e-scooter also thrilled BVB fans online. “The man just comes with a scooter and parks it in the stadium. How can he be so cool?” asked one user on X under a BVB video that showed Hummels riding the scooter.
A BVB follower on Instagram was sure: “He (Hummels, editor’s note) can definitely drive back two kilometers because he’s not allowed to park the scooter there.” Sports commentator Robby Hunke simply commented: “World class.”
