Friends lovers are in mourning. Matthew Perry, who played Chandler Bing, has died at the age of 54. The renowned actor was found dead in the jacuzzi of his home in Los Angeles for reasons that are still unknown. The emergency services received the call around 4 p.m., although they could do nothing to save his life. No illegal drugs were apparently found at the scene, although Perry had apparently been battling a relapse for weeks. “There is nothing we can say that makes this less terrible, we will always miss you,” said Warner Channel, where the series aired for years.

As they explain, Perry had spent the morning playing pickleball, a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, paddle tennis, badminton and table tennis and that has become very fashionable in the United States. Matthew was excited about it. He was a fan and that day, he had apparently been in a “very good mood” during the game. Afterwards, he returned to his house and asked his assistant to buy him a new iPhone and some glasses. Two hours later, the assistant went to the home and found him unconscious in the jacuzzi.

Alcohol and opioid addiction
Perry wrote his memoirs in 2022, ‘Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing’, in which he recounted his struggle with alcohol and opioid addiction. He said that he was barely 14 years old when he had his first drink, although it was not until seven years later when he was aware of the signs of alcoholism. He estimated he spent more than $7 million on rehabilitation and getting sober, in addition to going to spas and detox centers.
