As the top 14 final unfolds tonight, Matthieu Lartot gave his news on Instagram in a post published on Thursday. The host of France 2, suffering from cancer at 43, wants to be reassuring.

To his subscribers, he writes: “It’s time for the changeover… After two months of chemo, serial PET scans, MRIs in shambles, weekly blood tests and all the rest… the fires are green, and that’s already a very good thing in this long battle,” he said.

Last April, he announced that he was “forced” to move away from the antenna. “Twenty-six years later, history unfortunately stutters”, explained the former scrum-half of AS Mantes (Yvelines), who discovered a tumor in his knee by injuring himself during a match at 16. and carries since a prosthesis between the femur and the tibia.

“You can count on me to give everything”

Waiting for an amputation of the right leg to facilitate his recovery, the rugby specialist explained Thursday that “the second half of the protocol” was about to begin. If he does not hide that it “will be tough”, he explains to embark on this new test “with strength and determination”.

With the desire to “come back and share [s]a passion for sport”, he thanked the people who sent him “countless” messages of support. Gestures that “force him to redouble his efforts”, as does the support of his entourage, which he describes as “extraordinary” and a source of “a lot of energy and love”.

He concluded his message with a promise, always accompanied by a reference to his favorite sport: “I love the third half so much that you can count on me to give it your all. »

The sports enthusiast has only one goal in mind: to be able to attend the opening match of the World Cup as a supporter of the XV of France in September. Matthieu Lartot therefore gives himself all summer to acclimatize to his “new mobility” after his amputation which he had described as a “question of survival” and hopes that the surgical operation will put an end to this disease.
