He became the oldest scorer in the top tier

Mathieu Valbuena, with the goal he scored two days ago against Panathinaikos in Leoforos, giving a 2-1 lead to Athens Kallithea, became the oldest footballer to score in the history of the A’ National-Super League 1.

The Frenchman broke a record that had stood since April 1997, dethroning Tassos Mitropoulos from the top of this list after 27 years and 133 days.
Valbuena scored at the age of 39 years and 339 days, leaving behind the Greek midfielder who had put Veria ahead against AEK on April 21, 1997, when he was 39 years and 241 days old.

Valbuena also tops the list of the oldest players to score in A’ National/Super League for Olympiakos, as the goal he scored on April 12, 2023, against AEK at Karaiskakis Stadium gave him this record.
He was 38 years and 138 days old, placing second the Ariél Imbagasa, who scored at 37 years and 90 days during the match Xanthi – Olympiakos 0-2.
Of course, with this goal, he also becomes the oldest in the history of Kallithea to score in the top tier, leaving behind Alexis Alexandris, who scored in the 3-1 victory of Kallithea against Aris on May 25, 2005. At that time, the Greek forward was 36 years and 216 days old.
