This audience took place at the end of the investiture ceremony of Mr. Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani for a second five-year term, during which Mr. Akhannouch represented His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
In a statement to MAP at the end of this audience, which took place in the presence of the Moroccan ambassador to Nouakchott, Hamid Chabar, Mr. Akhannouch indicated that he informed the Mauritanian President of the determination of His Majesty the King, may God assist Him, to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
He also indicated that he had conveyed the Sovereign’s congratulations to the Mauritanian President for his re-election, as well as his wishes for further progress and development for the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
The Head of Government also stressed that the Mauritanian President expressed, during this audience, his firm desire to consolidate the fraternal relations between the two countries and to develop them further in the service of the interests of the two brotherly peoples.
Mr. Akhannouch also said that Mr. Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani had instructed him to convey to His Majesty the King his greetings and wishes for greater prosperity for the Kingdom.
Mr. Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani was re-elected for a second term as President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, after winning the presidential election of June 29 with 56.12% of the vote in the first round.
