Kozhikode: A CPM leader has been arrested in the case of unnatural torture of a student who participated in a disaster management mock drill. Mavoor panchayat member and CPM leader K. Unnikrishnan surrendered to the police.
A 15-year-old boy was sexually assaulted while returning from a mock drill organized by the National Disaster Management Authority and the state government.
The incident related to the case took place on December 29. The complaint is that the student who participated in the mock drill was sexually assaulted in the ambulance that was taken for the mock drill and in his car. On the complaint of the child’s parent, the Mavoor police filed a case against the POCSO department. The Kozhikode POCSO Court had rejected the anticipatory bail application of Unnikrishnan, who was absconding after the incident. It was after this that he surrendered.
