Mavridi was called by a false name during arrest

The Ministry of Internal Affairs published a video of the arrest of Alexander Mavridi, who escaped in early August from a temporary detention facility (IVS) in Istra near Moscow. The fugitive is first called by a false name and declares that he has not been previously convicted. In the second part of the video, filmed at the police station, Mr. Mavridi reveals his real data.

In the footage, Alexander Mavridi declares that his name is “Ivanov Vladimir Ivanovich” and he arrived “from Rostov three days ago.” He claims that he does not know why he was detained. When asked by law enforcement officers whether he was previously convicted, he answers negatively. The detainee found it difficult to name his address in Rostov, from where he allegedly arrived.

Alexander Mavridi escaped together with four other prisoners from a temporary detention facility near Moscow on the morning of August 6. Three other participants in the escape were detained earlier in the Moscow and Novgorod regions, another one surrendered to the police himself. Mavrodi himself was detained by the siloviki yesterday, the Investigative Committee of Russia charged him with escaping from custody (part 2 of article 313 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

Alexander Mavridi is charged with the murder of businessman Vladimir Marugov and the abduction of a Moscow lawyer. The police promised a reward for information about him in the amount of 1.5 million rubles.
