Max is a dog that has been good at chasing before. Six-year-old Max weighs 35 kg. Mexican Marines said Max played a key role in the capture of Quintero.

Quintero was sentenced to 28 years in 1985 for the murder of an intelligence officer named Enrique Kiki Camarena, an agent of the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). He was released in 2013.
