Maxi fire Rome: psychological support for the families of the injured – Health and Wellbeing

(ANSA) – ROME, AUGUST 22 – The firefighter and three Civil Protection volunteers injured yesterday in the huge fire at Torre Spaccata in Rome are “in critical condition”. This was confirmed by the Lazio Region in a note.
“They are in a reserved prognosis and three of them are hospitalized in the Major Burns Center of the Sant’Eugenio hospital – explains the organization in via Cristoforo Colombo -. They are a 33-year-old volunteer: currently intubated, he has burns on 31% of his body, a 38-year-old volunteer, also intubated, has burns on 19% of his body and a 52-year-old firefighter: he is breathing spontaneously, but has burns covering 54% of his body”. The fourth patient, a 29-year-old volunteer, is hospitalized in intensive care, intubated and has burns on 9% of his body.
The ASL Roma2, in close collaboration with the Fire Brigade and Civil Protection, promptly activated, today, the psychological support service for the families and colleagues of the patients involved, in order to offer support during this difficult time.
“The competent authorities and the medical team at the Sant’Eugenio hospital continue to constantly monitor the patients’ conditions, and any further updates will be communicated promptly – adds the Lazio Region -. In the meantime, for the next 3 or 4 days, it will not be possible to issue bulletins until the patients, for whom blood donation is not necessary, have undergone surgery”. (ANSA).
