In Russia, for the first time since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the number of detected new cases of infection exceeded 37 thousand. According to the federal operational headquarters for the fight against COVID-19, published on Friday October 22, over the past day, 37,141 people have been positively tested for coronavirus. This is a new high since the start of the pandemic. A day earlier, 36,339 cases of infection were identified.

The maximum daily mortality rate since the beginning of the spread of coronavirus in Russia was also recorded. Over the past 24 hours, 1,064 people have died from COVID-19 pulmonary disease and its consequences. Maximum daily mortality is being updated in Russia for the sixth day in a row. The psychological mark in a thousand cases was crossed on October 16.

The rise in the incidence in the country has been observed for many weeks. Experts attribute this to the low level of vaccination among the population. According to the Internet resource One World in Data, Russia, in which, according to official data, 32.5 percent of the population are fully vaccinated, ranks 36th in Europe for this indicator. At the same time, according to the press secretary of the President of Russia, the reason for the lag behind European countries in terms of vaccination rates lies in the low consciousness of Russians.
