BOLZANO. The Church has been celebrating May Day, Labor Day, since 1955, when Pope Pius XII on the tenth anniversary of the Acli (which coincided with the Labor Day) instituted the feast of St. Joseph the craftsman, a symbol of the dignity of work that must inspire social life and the legislation, the Diocese of Bolzano-Bressanone announced.

Saturday 1st May at 9 in the Cathedral of Bolzano the bishop Ivo Muser celebrates the Holy Mass for the Labor Day and the feast of St. Joseph. It will be a moment of prayer to reaffirm the closeness to workers, their families and businesses, especially in this difficult historical phase marked by the pandemic, the Diocese of Bolzano-Bressanone said. The celebration is broadcast by the diocesan broadcasters Radio Sacra Famiglia-inBlu and Radio Grüne Welle.

The appointment takes on a particular meaning this year after that Pope Francis has announced a “Year of St. Joseph” until 8 December 2021. In this special year, Bishop Muser also celebrates the Eucharist in the eight parish churches of the Diocese dedicated to St. Joseph, entrusting the path of the local Church to the “Patron of the universal Church.”
