While the opposition is still grumbling and regularly welcoming members of the government with whistles and concerts of saucepans since the promulgation of the highly controversial law on pension reform, the attention of the authorities is focused for the next few days on the commemoration that Emmanuel Macron will chair on Monday May 8 on the Champs-Élysées.

This ceremony, which brings together members of the government and political figures around the president, will be under high security and the police headquarters issued an order on Friday, prohibiting demonstrations in a large area around the Champs-Élysées.

The text imposes a very wide perimeter around the Champs-Élysées, within which any “claiming” demonstration is prohibited, as well as “undeclared” gatherings.

President Emmanuel Macron must go up the avenue des Champs-Élysées in a vehicle framed by Republican guards on horseback, to the Arc de Triomphe where he will rekindle the flame of the tomb of the unknown soldier.

Since the adoption of the law on the reform of pensions by recourse to article 49 paragraph 3 of the Constitution, which allows the adoption of a text without a vote of the parliamentarians, the president and the members of the government are the object of demonstrations and “casserolades” at each of their exit.
