«Never as this time does May 1st have such a profound meaning, full of history and hope for the future, a May 1st of change and rebirth. The world of work cannot be betrayed, humiliated, deceived again ». This is the message launched by Confil (Italian Workers’ Confederation), coordinated by Giuseppe Filannino, which acts as a reference and voice for the whole world of work, preventing the party from turning into a farce.
The reflection
“The Labor Day is not a simple historical memory, a parade of flags now prevented by the pandemic, a sterile and dated trade union liturgy but the placing back at the center of the life of every democratic and economically advanced state the main and necessary role of work and workers, a real world made up of men and women, of development and growth, of dreams and innovation. Men and women to whom we must restore certainty and security, increase in wages and new rights, after so much giving up on an economic and social level with the complicity of those who had to protect and defend them in words! We defend the work and the workers, we give them a new story of representation and progress. The end of the pandemic marks the beginning of a more just and sustainable world, a new less financial and more supportive Europe, the challenge of the ecological transition awaits us, hoping that this May 1st will be the end of the long transition in the world of work ”.
