Maya Jama has announced she is stepping down as the host of Love Island after nine series.
The 32-year-old presenter confirmed her departure on Instagram, writing that she is ready to throw myself into something new
after three years at the helm of the ITV dating show.
Jama took over hosting duties from Laura Whitmore in January 2023, subsequently fronting companion series Love Island Aftersun as well as the Love Island: Games and Love Island: All Stars spin-offs, according to Digital Spy.
Prior to Jama taking over the role, Whitmore had managed the show starting in 2020 after succeeding the late Caroline Flack, who had led the program since its 2015 reboot. The dating format places a collection of single contestants in isolated living conditions away from the outside world, requiring them to pair up with another islander to remain on the show.
Reflecting on her tenure, Jama wrote in her statement: What an incredible era and what an unforgettable time I’ve had, it’s been far too much fun to put into words or a video, but as all good things must come to an end, it’s my time to step down as the host of my beloved Love Island.
She expressed gratitude to the individuals who rooted so hard for her to secure the hosting position in the first place, and thanked viewers for every supportive message and tune-in throughout her tenure.

She also thanked the production staff for working diligently over multiple months every year to produce the series. Jama added that she began hosting the programme at age 28 and treasured every moment around the fire pit, live shows, and slow-motion walks.
ITV expressed gratitude for her contributions over the last three years.
An ITV spokesperson stated: Maya has been a fantastic and much loved host on Love Island – we thank her for everything she has brought to the show over the last three years and wish her every continued success.
