Social Democrat Leader Unclear on Prime Ministerial Bid
The leader of the Social Democrats, who has yet to explicitly declare her intentions regarding the upcoming government, emphasized the strength and unity of her party. However, she hinted at potentially nominating more than one candidate for prime minister.
While the leader did not explicitly endorse MP G. Paluckas for the position, she expressed confidence in his suitability for the role.
The leader of the Peasants’ Party criticized the Social Democrats, stating that if G. Paluckas becomes prime minister, they would not cooperate with the party. He argued that Paluckas lacks experience and qualifications to lead the country.
The Social Democrat leader responded by suggesting that the party’s voter base is not dependent on the individual chosen as prime minister. She expressed confidence in the party’s ability to reach an agreement with other parties regarding candidate support in the upcoming elections.
The president has identified G. Paluckas as a suitable candidate for prime minister. Paluckas himself has expressed readiness to take office if his party wins the upcoming elections.
