He argued that MC is a political force who believes that Mexico has a future, who believes that there are indeed very worrying situations in the country and that they have not hesitated to denounce.
Regarding his aspiration to lead the orange party, he commented that he is trying to build a unity candidacy.
“I believe that the unit It is a premise that we always try to build in politics. I believe that it must always be done with all possible respect for other aspirations, for whoever wants to express themselves. But that is the scenario,” commented Álvarez Máynez.

He said that, unlike the rest of the opposition partiesMC will be less reactive and more purposeful.
He asserted that what they will build is an option for the future, an alternative.
“I regret that the opposition did not understand it after the strong message they just had. This cannot be achieved by betting on the country’s failure. This cannot be achieved with tricks, with lies.
“This is achieved with an agenda, with people at the center and with their causes at the forefront,” he stated.
As for what electoralthe Emecista said that they will work first, so that Nuevo León and Jalisco remain orange “and so that justice is done in Campeche and what was voted three years ago becomes a reality in 2027.”
“We propose in Tlaxcalalike in Tlaxcala we managed to surpass the PRI and the PAN in the vote, that is, to be the second political force, surpass the PRI and the PAN as a whole, win.

“I was born in Zacatecas and there we also defeated the PRI and the PAN together. There I believe that it is another approach of a State that we can build a triumph. And so we will see, building new options for growth, for consolidation for the different groups, for the cities of the country,” he expressed.
He added that in the municipal elections in Durango and Veracruz in 2025 they will also try to consolidate.
And of course, he continued, there is no other more important objective between 2030 and the 2029 election in the State of Mexico.

Interview between Time.news Editor and Jorge Álvarez Máynez
Editor (E): Good afternoon, Jorge. Thank you for joining us today. You’ve recently announced your aspiration to lead the Movimiento Ciudadano (MC). What motivated you to pursue this role at such a pivotal time?
Jorge Álvarez Máynez (JAM): Good afternoon, and thank you for having me. I believe that MC is at one of its strongest moments in history. It’s a political force that not only recognizes Mexico’s potential but also the pressing issues we face. My motivation stems from a desire to lead us in addressing these challenges and to unify our party for a successful future.
E: You mentioned building a unity candidacy. Can you elaborate on how you envision achieving this within MC and amongst opposition parties?
JAM: Absolutely. Unity is essential in politics, especially now. I think it’s critical to respect the aspirations of others, while still working towards a shared goal. I want to create an environment where all voices within the party can be heard. We have to come together, not just within MC, but also find common ground with other opposition parties. It’s about focusing on shared values and a collective agenda.
E: That brings us to your criticism of other opposition parties. You stated that they are often reactive rather than purposeful. How does MC plan to differentiate itself from that approach?
JAM: The key difference is our proactive mindset. We aim to be an alternative that focuses on solutions rather than merely responding to the issues at hand. Our vision is to center people and their causes in our agenda. We cannot afford to hope for the country’s failure as a means to gain power; that only harms our society. Instead, we must work constructively, with integrity and a clear plan.
E: What specific goals or policies do you hope to pursue if you succeed in your leadership aspiration, especially in light of upcoming elections?
JAM: In the immediate term, we aim to secure our strongholds in Nuevo León and Jalisco and ensure that the justice promised in Campeche is realized by 2027. Additionally, we strive to challenge the traditional dominance of the PRI and PAN, particularly in Tlaxcala, where we successfully became the second political force. It’s crucial to present ourselves not just as a viable alternative but as a trusted leader for the people.
E: As we look ahead to 2024, what do you believe is the most pressing issue for the citizens of Mexico, and how can MC address it?
JAM: The most pressing issue is restoring trust in governance and addressing socioeconomic disparities. Citizens need to feel that their voices and concerns are being considered. We can address this by building policies that are community-driven, focusing on transparency, and engaging directly with the electorate. We want to ensure that our agenda is reflective of their needs and aspirations.
E: Jorge, what message do you want to send to the electorate as you embark on this journey?
JAM: I want the electorate to know that MC is committed to a future where every individual plays a vital role. We believe in the power of unity, integrity, and forward-thinking solutions. Together, we can create a Mexico that not only acknowledges its challenges but actively works towards transforming them into opportunities for all.
E: Thank you, Jorge. Your insights into the direction of Movimiento Ciudadano are enlightening, and we look forward to seeing how your vision unfolds in the coming months.
JAM: Thank you for the opportunity to share my perspective. I appreciate it!
