“Today, August 28, the Paralympic Games in Paris begin and our champion Giorgio Farroni is preparing to write a new chapter in the history of cycling. For the sixth time, Giorgio will proudly represent Italy and our Fabriano on the Paralympic stage. At 47 years old, he once again proves to be a true force of nature. On September 4, Giorgio will compete in the time trial, while on September 7 he will conclude his Olympic adventure with the road race. After the successes of Beijing 2008 (bronze), London 2012 (silver), and Tokyo 2020 (silver), we are all looking forward to this new challenge. Let’s show all our support to Giorgio! His dedication, passion, and talent are an inspiration to us all. Go Giorgio, Fabriano is cheering for you.” This is the heartfelt message that, on behalf of the entire paper city, Mayor Daniela Ghergo conveyed to the Paralympic cycling champion, one of the 5 athletes from Marche who will participate in the Paris 2024 Games.

Also competing in the fourth Paralympics is Assunta Legnante, a native of Frattamaggiore in Naples but living in Marche for 24 years, starting from the two silvers in Tokyo, ready with the determination that distinguishes her to chase after gold. She will compete on September 3 with the discus throw in the F1 category, and on September 6, she will take part in the shot put (combined categories F11 and F11 12). Tenacity, strength of spirit, and commitment, Michele Massa, born in 2004, an athlete from Monte San Pietrangeli of the Accademia Scherma Fermo and a promising Paralympian, will make his debut on September 4 at the Grand Palais to defend the tricolor in the men’s individual foil category B. He will also compete on September 5 in the team foil event, on September 6 in the individual sabre category B, and on September 7 in the sabre team event. 26-year-old equestrian from Recanati, Federica Sileoni will be involved in three rounds: on September 4 with the individual event, on September 6 with the team event, and on September 7 with the finals. Dreaming big is Dieng Ndiaga, originally from Senegal but living in Montecassiano, who will hit the track in the 1500 meters on September 6: after winning bronze in Tokyo 2020, he aims for the top podium spot.
