Mayor Kim Dong-il of Boryeong City is busy securing national funds for various festivals. On the 24th, Mayor Kim Dong-il of Boryeong City visited the Ministry of Strategy and Finance and met with Director of the Budget Office Kim Dong-il and the heads of the budget departments for each major project, and requested national funds for next year’s current projects in Boryeong City.

This visit is a move that reflects the government’s interest in the city’s core projects and the desire for national support at a time when the reflection of national funds in local projects is not going smoothly under the government’s sound fiscal policy.

In particular, Mayor Kim Dong-il visited Sejong City, emphasizing that securing the government budget, which serves as the foundation for regional development, is more important than anything else, despite the fact that mega events such as the ’16th National Marine Sports Festival’ and the ‘5th Island Day Event’ are scheduled to be held this summer.

First, we met with Kim Dong-il, Director of the Budget Office at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, to share the direction of municipal policies and the progress of key projects by sector, explain the need to reflect major projects in next year’s government budget, and request special attention and active support.

The suggested major projects by sector include ▲Establishment of a system to enhance the safety of core EV parts to lead the country in achieving carbon neutrality ▲Establishment of a refrigerant logistics industrial complex using LNG cold energy, ▲Establishment of a complex marine leisure tourism city to create a luxury marine leisure tourism city, ▲Chungcheongnam-do Catholic pilgrimage cultural experience complex, ▲Construction of a national passenger ship on the Ocheon-Seonchon route to create an inclusive city where no citizen is left out, and ▲Installation of small-scale sewage treatment facilities in island areas.

Afterwards, he met with Cho Gyu-san, the Director of the Agriculture, Forestry and Marine Affairs Budget Division, and explained the situation of Hyojado, which has become an isolated island due to changing circumstances, and the need to secure maritime transportation rights for islanders. He suggested next year’s budget for the ▲Ocheon~Seonchon national passenger ship replacement project, and also requested national funding for ▲K-Marina Route Creation Pilot Project ▲Complex Marine Leisure Tourism City Creation Project to advance to a global marine leisure tourism city.

In addition, in order to transition to an eco-friendly energy green city, we met with Park Jeong-min, head of the Industry, SMEs and Startups Budget Division, and Lee Min-ho, head of the Climate and Environment Budget Division, and proposed essential government budget support, including ▲establishing a hydrogen gas turbine test research center, ▲establishing a foundation for evaluating the performance of eco-friendly ships’ fine dust, and ▲establishing a Boryeong biogas green fusion cluster.

Lastly, in order to create a safe and livable Manse Boryeong OK Boryeong for all citizens, I met with the Director of the Garden Safety Budget Division and suggested ▲ government budget support for five projects to continue improving the natural disaster risk zone.

This is already the sixth time that the central government has knocked on the door this year, which proves that Mayor Kim Dong-il’s passion for completing Manse Boryeong OK Boryeong is not fading.

Mayor Kim Dong-il said, “2025 is a more important year than ever to wrap up the first half of the 8th local government and to create real results,” adding, “In order to achieve the aspirations of Boryeong citizens to live as first-class citizens in a first-class city, we will do our best to secure national funding next year with a strong will to overcome the difficulties of the Bongsan Gaedo Usugaegyo (逢山開道 遇水架橋) principle of ‘making a road when we meet a mountain, and building a bridge when we meet water.’”
