The mayor of San Salvador Centro, Mario Durán, inaugurated the municipal activities of the Civic Month with an official ceremony, from the Plaza Masferrer, where the monumental flag of El Salvador shines imposingly.
“This month, in which we commemorate 203 years of independence, should not only serve to remind us of where we come from, because that is what we must never forget, but also what we have achieved, and also invite us to think about where we want to go,” said the mayor.
The councillor stressed that El Salvador is experiencing true national independence and is on its way to becoming a world-renowned country, “for being an example that things can be achieved when one sets one’s mind to it and puts the citizen at the centre of each action.”
During the event, the San Salvador Centro Symphony Orchestra proudly performed the National Anthem. The Prayer to the Salvadoran Flag was recited by Elizabeth Arana and Kevin García, students of the Juan Ramón Jiménez School Center.
