With the aim of generating a cultural approach in the demarcation, the mayor of Cuauhtémoc, Alessandra Rojo de la Vega held a meeting with the French ambassador to Mexico, Delphine Borione.
At the meeting at the mayor’s office, the representative of France announced the start of a comprehensive remodeling project of the French Institute in Latin America (IFAL)located within the territory of the demarcation, with the aim of modernizing its facilities and improving the experience of both staff and the visiting public.

The plan, according to what was reported by the ambassador, contemplates increasing the reception capacity for French students, creating spaces for cultural and public events, opening an Archeology and Anthropology Reference Library and enabling gardens designed by French landscapers residing in Mexico .
During the announcement, the mayor of Cuauhtemoc expressed his interest in accompanying the work within the scope of his Government’s competence, highlighting the importance of this space as a cultural bridge between France and Mexico.
The remodeling, which is expected to begin in the summer of 2025, will culminate in August 2026 as part of the celebrations of the Bicentennial of Mexico-France Diplomatic Relations.
