MCC plans to use artificial intelligence to identify hooligans

by time news

An artificial intelligence system will be introduced at the Moscow Central Circle (MCC), which will remotely detect signs of antisocial behavior of passengers.

A competition for the development of such a system was announced by the Research and Development Institute of Informatization, Automation and Communication in Railway Transport (NIIAS, a subsidiary of Russian Railways). The results of the competition will be announced on October 28, the cost of the work is estimated at 15.7 million rubles, follows from the data on the public procurement website.

The hardware and software complex will identify brawlers in the Lastochka electric trains and at the MCC stops. It will automatically and in real time analyze video images from surveillance cameras in Lastochki and on railway platforms, as well as acoustic information, including speech. So, with the help of machine vision and artificial intelligence, screams, manifestations of aggression (raising the tone and changing the manner of speech), explosions and other sounds atypical for the situation inside the car will be recognized.

Currently, 242 pairs of trains run on the MCC per day on weekdays and 211 pairs on weekends, including the high-speed Lastochki, which are produced by the Ural Locomotives plant. Russian Railways expects to launch unmanned “Swallows” around the ring in 2024. Certification of such trains will take place in 2022.
