Finch, the opening batsman and captain of the first Australian team to bat, was run out by Golden Duck on the first ball without hitting a run. Then another opener, Travis Head, and third-ranked Ben McDermott combined for 162 for the second wicket. Travis Head, who was in action, scored 89 off 70 balls and missed the century.
But McDermott scored. He was out for 104 runs. Lapushen then hit an Audi fifty in the action. He was dismissed for 59 off 49 balls. Marcus Stones hit 49 off 33 balls with 5 fours and a six. Sean Abbott hit 28 off 16 balls and the Australian team scored 348 runs in 50 overs to set a tough target of 349 for Pakistan.
