Attracting attention as the most expensive supercar in Vietnam, the McLaren Principle Recently returned to our country, it has received even more attention because its owner is Minh “Plastics” – a famous car enthusiast in the community.
In a recent share, this plastic businessman “opened up” about the amount of money to bring McLaren Elva to Vietnam: 8 million USD (about 196 billion VND), instead of 143 billion VND as before. Besides spending a large amount of money, the story surrounding Minh “Plastic”‘s decision to buy the above supercar is no less special.
Dan Tri reporter had an interview with Pham Tran Nhat Minh after he appeared with the McLaren Elva in Vietnam.

Including the newly purchased McLaren Elva, how many cars do you currently have in your car collection?
– Actually, it’s been a long time since Minh stopped counting numbers. Everyone can look at the journey 11 years ago, the Ming Dynasty had about 200 square meters but there was almost no room to move more cars, not even space to walk.
At that time, my passion was measured in quantity and different brands and colors, the total value at that time was actually not much. After that, I switched to playing hypercar (temporary translation: super super car) and realized that this is a completely different category, no longer measured in quantity.

Maybe it’s because Minh’s finances are limited and his playing power in Vietnam is also limited. So I play less but play cars with more depth. As time goes on, the value increases and my emotions don’t slip away. Currently, Minh only has Pagani and McLaren as the two best cars (laughs).
What position does the McLaren Elva occupy in your collection? Why did you choose this car model if you ignore material value?
– Compared to money, every year the value of used cars will of course decrease, but in terms of the world, they will only go up because they are no longer produced and are limited. Elva is similar to other limited car models, but the feeling it brings to Minh is very special.

This is the first car Minh’s mother accepted and supported after Minh’s 11 years of playing cars. Before, every time I bought a car, my mother objected, and only my father and I were on the same “front line”. In addition, this is also the first car Minh bought with 100% of his own money.
Currently, I only live with my emotions, so my mother’s support – “Minh! Let’s play!” – is the most precious thing in Minh’s life.

In a sharing, he said that there are 3 car models that he likes the most, symbolizing 3 stages. Is the McLaren Elva the car that represents his next stage in car playing?
– That’s right. Everyone can see that after Pagani Huayra, Minh did not buy a special car model for 7 years, because fate did not come. There is no other car model like it McLaren Elva, has the cooperation and support of the company and Mr. Hom Nguyen to push her sublimation like that.
For Minh, buying something must be emotional. If we want emotions, we have to go to the bottom, then when we get to the highest, we will gain the most profit.
The artwork on this unique Elva is called “Icare”, inspired by the Greek myth Icarus (McLaren).
When buying Pagani Huayra, he had to spend a large amount of money (nearly 80 billion VND). Now when he buys a McLaren Elva, will his emotions become dull?
– After experiencing Bugati, I thought I would buy any car that was more expensive, but Pagani still made me think because of such great value.

After deciding to buy, I transferred the money immediately and then went to Dubai to see the car. Entering the showroom, the seller told me: “There are no cars for sale here, there are only works of art that you can come and see if you like.” After being guided and thoroughly researched, I realized that this car is a new milestone.
Going to Elva, I felt, oh my god, to surpass Pagani, this is a more terrible experience.
Did you encounter any difficulties in ordering a McLaren Elva?
– The most difficult thing is whether the company will accept me to buy that car or not. You must have a history of playing cars and what types of cars you have experienced to meet the standards.
The original McLaren Elva has a roofless, glassless design and has aerodynamic technology to prevent wind from hitting the occupant’s face. However, when returning to Vietnam, to be eligible for traffic, the vehicle must have a windshield. Does this point make you regret?
– When Minh booked the car there was no windshield, the feeling that day was that I wanted it like that. When I learned that windshields were required in Vietnam, I had the thought of stopping and not wanting to continue.
However, when thinking about it another way, out of 149 cars globally, the number of cars with windshields is the least. So in a misfortune, there is a blessing, having a windshield becomes a unique feature, enough to make me proud if there is a meeting of the Elva car owner’s club.

The car was completed before, but why did you choose to announce it now? Was that a special moment for you?
– If people follow Minh’s journey, usually the cars will return on special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries of the couple. Those times will be quite far apart, so that when Minh’s emotions drop, he has something to pull it back up.
Are you planning to go to sea with the Elva in the near future?
– Currently, my feelings for Elva are still like a work of art to look at and enjoy. As everyone knows, Minh has owned a Pagani Huayra for 7 years but until now, the number of times it appeared on the road was not much.
For Elva, there will be further limitations. Minh may not be able to drive this car on the road, but Minh can let everyone admire it somewhere, on some occasion so we can drink coffee and look at the car together.

In his car journey, he has gone through many car standards, from luxury to supercar to hypercar. How did that journey give you maturity in terms of experience and emotions?
– This experience Minh thinks most depends on age. When I’m younger, my impulsiveness will be more about speed. I like to look shiny, like to show off (show off), and have to be cool on the street.
As I get older, business life collides more and more, I meet too many customers and the customer is my god, so I no longer dare to be impulsive. I will become more mature with age, the way I do business and learn from experience.

Is it true that the more I play, the more motivated I am to earn more money to satisfy my passion?
– That is completely correct because without money we cannot do anything. But the problem is that people can just hang around in life, we don’t want to spend a part to experience such great values.
Many people think there are 10 parts but Minh “Plastic” is playing 7-8 parts but in reality that is not the case. Must have a minimum level, at least to experience the car models because there is also business, family… many things to worry about.
