On a different wavelength, the deputy governor of Thesprotia, Thomas Pitoulis, and the governor of Epirus, Alexandros Kahrimanis, broadcast in their answers to the question of the faction “Public of Epirus” regarding air quality measurements in the area of Igoumenitsa, due to the conditions created by the existence of port in the area.

Mr. Pitoulis, in his answer, after accusing the previous administrations of OLIG of operating as “Ali Pasha”, as there was no cooperation with the Municipality and the Region, admitted that there is no clear picture of the pollutants, as no measurements are taken from the Region. As he explained, the Ministry gave the Region a machine, but it does not have any accuracy to measure atmospheric pollutants. In fact, this machine was never installed, with Mr. Pitoulis citing the refusal of all the buildings that were addressed, believing that this would create pollution. Ultimately, however, the deputy governor of Thesprotias stated that the Region’s services have been instructed to conduct a market survey in order to procure a modern pollutant measuring machine. “We are obliged to carry out checks now”, he said, while questioning whether there is a burden on the atmosphere from the trucks, as there are very few of them moving in the urban fabric of Igoumenitsa.
The governor expressed the opinion that the private person, i.e. the current administrator of the port of Igoumenitsa, should make measurements, transmitting the data to the Region, citing that measurements are made per 200,000 inhabitants, an obligation that for the Region of Epirus is covered by measuring the quality of atmospheric air in Ioannina. “We are not here to make measurements,” he pointed out, with Mr. Pitoulis insisting, however, saying that measurements should be made within the city and that modern machines will also be installed in private buildings if necessary.
In her interim intervention, the regional councilor Panagiota Angeli, who proposed the issue for the “Public of Epirot” faction, clarified that the question did not have the character of accusing, but was based on the fact that there is a polluting source and we do not have a real time measurement . “That’s a problem,” he noted.

The new bridge in Arta has been fully studied

From the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Region of Epirus will claim the allocation of funds for the new bridging of the Arachthos River in Arta, which will be combined with two new level roundabouts.
This is what the regional governor, Alexandros Kahrimanis, answered to a question posed by the faction “Epiros Olon – Topos na Zeis” regarding the safety of the current bridge and the timetable of the second bridge.
Mr. Kahrimanis made it known that the cost is 8.5-9 million euros, not including the nodes, with the important element being that there are complete studies. However, he refrained from committing to the timetable, saying that there are always external factors. “It would be easy to put it in a District program. But the Ministry of Infrastructure should also keep its commitments”, he noted, saying that the bridging is an issue on which he discussed with the competent deputy minister, Mr. Tahiao.
On the occasion of the debate, Mr. Kahrimanis described the placing of no-trucks signs on the old Ioannina-Artas National Highway as completely arbitrary, arguing that it is under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Region.
