Meaux: arrest of four young people suspected of two assaults on women at home

by time news

They are suspected of having participated – to varying degrees – in two home attacks, committed last May, to the detriment of two merchants from Meaux. Monday, four Meldois, aged 18 to 20, were arrested by the police, before being placed in custody in the premises of the Judicial Police (PJ) of Meaux.

About twenty civil servants took part in this operation. “This is the result of diligent work by the Banditry Suppression Group, which worked with the staff of the police station and in conjunction with the municipal police, under the direction of the Meaux prosecutor’s office. It is an investigation that required a lot of investment, ”says commissioner Stéphane Guérin, the boss of the PJ Meaux.

One of the youths remanded in custody

The first attack dates back to May 15: that evening, two hooded criminals attacked the wife of a restaurant owner in the Beauval district. The victim, who was at home with a friend, was pushed against a wall and threatened with a knife. The duo left with around 2,000 euros.

The second attack took place on the morning of May 27, to the detriment of the manager of a dry cleaners, also from the Beauval district. This woman, who was in her apartment with her grandchildren, thought she opened the door to a postman, who had come to deliver a package. But she suddenly faced three criminals, face hidden, equipped with a handgun. The trio left with some 3,000 euros.

On Wednesday, at the end of their police custody, the four young people arrested were brought before the Meaux prosecutor’s office. They will be tried for theft with violence in a meeting and forcible confinement by the Meaux Criminal Court, on December 16, as part of a deferred appearance. Pending the hearing, one of them was remanded in custody by a liberty and detention judge and the other three under judicial control.
