The appellate division bench rejected the single bench verdict of the high court upholding the ban on MediaOne broadcasting. The appeal was filed by the owners Madhyam Broadcasting Limited and the Kerala Journalists Union against the verdict. A bench comprising Justice Manikumar and Justice Shaji P. Chali dismissed the petition. The division bench clarified that there was no need to interfere in the single bench order upholding the action of the Central Government. MediaOne management said it would approach the Supreme Court against the verdict.

Dushyant Dwivedi, a senior advocate in the Supreme Court for MediaOne, and Adv. Solicitor General Aman Lekhi was also present. The verdict was set for February 10, after a day of deliberations.

The channel was banned on the basis of information gathered by the Union Home Ministry from various intelligence agencies. The ministry forwarded the information to the single bench in a sealed envelope.
